Audience Analysis
Sports fanatics are passionate and obsessively devoted to a team. Fanatics exhibit intense behaviors – “Can turn a quiet 53-year old into a raging lunatic covered in paint from head to toe”. Instilled with a intense sense of pride, loyalty, and belonging (tribal).
Principles of Gamification
Octalysis – human-focused gamification framework that lays out the eight core drivers for human motivation. ‘White Hat Gamification’ utilizes positive motivations. ‘Black Hat Gamification’ utilizes negative motivations.
Product Solution
What if we made. . . a container that captures fans’ screams as fanatics shout obscenities, the tally is displayed of typical “curse” words detected. Playback of offensive language uses substitute curse words (e.g. “Fudge” replaces “F*#&”). App allows selection of a charity of choice to receive 25¢ donation per bad word.
My Role
UX & Visual Design Lead - I worked with the team to create concepts and design the holistic experience while also tackling the design of the app.
